子ウィンドを閉じると元ページが頭に戻ってしまうのですが...

お助けください。
並べた小さな画像にマウスオーバーで画像が変り、クリックするとサイズ固定の別ウィンドが開くいうJavaScriptを使用しているのですが、
縦に長いページの下の方で画像をクリックして開いた子ウィンドをXで閉じると元のページが一番上（頭？リフレッシュ？）に戻ってしまいます。

出来る事ならば、元のページはそのままの場所でいてほしいのですが、何かページの頭に戻るような命令が入っているのでしょうか？

なにぶんくわしい事もわからないまま使っておりますもので説明もままなりませんし
このような質問でお叱りを受けるかも知れませんが宜しくお願いします。

アンカータグが<a href="#"こうなっているので、クリックしたら先頭に戻ります。

または
